Freedom Football KL is an initiative originating from passionate community members and dedicated football enthusiasts, coming together to show unwavering support for the people of Palestine. Our commitment stems from a deep belief in the importance of standing with those facing the challenges of an enduring 84-year settler colonial project. In light of the distressing events unfolding, we call upon our community to join hands in a strong display of solidarity with Palestine.
Sports have the incredible ability to unite individuals from various backgrounds and cultures. Within Malaysia, football holds a special place as a beloved community activity, deeply woven into the fabric of daily life, whether observing matches at a local eatery or engaging in friendly matches with companions. Contrasting this, in Palestine, football transcends mere recreation; it serves as a form of defiance. Despite the profound passion for the sport, Palestinian youths encounter significant adversities due to the ongoing afflictions caused by the Israeli military. This violence must cease. A permanent and the cessation of occupation aggression are imperative. We are advocating for solidarity from our peers to stand alongside this cause, by extending support in any manner possible - whether through contributions, advocating for boycotts, or utilizing their platforms to amplify the discourse on Palestine.
